Using the Library Resources at Roosevelt
The library media program is a vital component in the educational process. It is designed to provide:
- a structure for students developing book and information location and selection skills
- a collection that supports the school curriculum and teachers
- an array of resources and information to engage students in activities that extend the classroom experience, creating opportunities to explore subjects of academic and leisure interest.
Your child's class will visit the school library, staffed by parent volunteers. The library teacher is available on Tuesdays. Each week, students will be allowed to take out books provided the previously borrowed book has been returned. Students will be expected to pay for any damaged or lost books.
Library Skills
Upper elementary students attend library skills classes every week for one class period. To build student information literacy, we explore research and study skills in conjunction with the student curriculum. Students also use class time to explore various genres of literature to promote student reading.
