Principal's Desk
My sincere thanks for the gifts, cards, and holiday wishes you extended before our vacation. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the delicious cookies, squares, and candy we received. Now we're in the new year with new opportunities to work hard, study well, and do our best ... our New Year's resolutions, right?
We've got a few very special things planned for January:
*Our monthly RAPTG meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 4 at 7:00 pm. we'd love to have you join us for this first meeting of the new year. We've got some spring events to talk about and we love new faces and ideas. Also, mark your calendar now for our next meeting on Wednesday, February 1. We'll be meeting at Panera Bread!
*Our 1st graders will experience the night sky on Thursday, January 5 when the Museum of Science brings in their StarLab Portable Planetarium. The museum staff guarantees that this program will be "out of this world!"
*Author Marty Kelley will be spending 3 days with us, January 10-12, to share his writing/illustrating skills. On Tuesday, January 10 from 6:00-7:00 pm, he'll be here for a "meet-and-greet" and book signing. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and something you won't want to miss. Thanks you to the RAPTG for arranging for this artist-in-residence visit.
*Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 16, in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. Does your child know who Martin Luther King is? We do our best to inform the students at school, but why not talk about him at home and ask your son/daughter what they may know about Dr. King. They may surprise you!
*Please note that kindergarten registration and registration for 1st graders NEW to North Attleboro public schools will be held between January 31 and February 4. Contact the Early Learning Center (508-643-2145) for additional information.
In conjunction with the No Child Left Behind Act, our parent letter and school's report card have been posted to the NCLB link to the left. Please make sure to take a minute to check out the link. Our students have made us very proud!
Lastly, the Roosevelt Avenue staff and I wish all of you a very happy new year. May 2012 be a good year for your family!
Respectfully,
John Quinn
